In 1994 obtained the doctorate degree in comparative pathology with a thesis on pathological and molecular characterization of canine lymphomas. In 1995 achieves the J. Fullbright scholarship for a postdoctoral position at UC Davis (CA) working on feline mucosal immunology and LGL leukemias. In 1998-2000 tenure track investigator at the School of Veterinary Medicine of Padova where opens the histopathology diagnostic service and is responsible of teaching immunopathology, dermatopathology, necropsy techniques and histopathology to veterinary students. In 2000 obtains the ECVP board certification. From 2001, programme director of the ECVP certified training center in Veterinary Pathology. Currently, is associate professor at the University of Milano.
Research focus on mucosal immunology, lymphoproliferative disorders and sarcomas in small animals. Diagnostic focus on immunopathology and dermatopathology of small animals. In 2007 receives the CL Davis Foundation Journal Award for the best international veterinary pathology paper entitled “Feline Large Granular Lymphocyte (LGL) Lymphoma with Secondary Leukemia: Primary Intestinal Origin with Predominance of a CD3/CD8 Phenotype”. Involved in international committees including Board member of the International Society of Veterinary Dermatopathology (2004-2006), ECVP Exam Committee member (2003-2005), President of the ECVP Exam Committee (2006-2008), 2011-2014 ECVP Council member, from 2014 member of the ECVP admissions committee.
